Last Weekend: Beach Visit

Last weekend, we went on our first real beach trip of the year! The weather was perfect- not too hot but not too cold! The water was a little chilly but I didn't expect to be in it all that much since Eliza can't swim. We laid out on our towels, ate tons of oranges, built some sand castles, and watched the boys surf.

Isn't this chubby little boy so cute? He may be too young but I think he was definitely checking Eliza out. Compared to him, she looks so tall and skinny! It was crazy, this was the first time I looked at her and saw a little girl.... and not my sweet innocent baby. Oi vey, she's going to be a man killer.

And look at her! Running like she's on Baywatch!

Brandon.... lookin' a little pasty ;)

And I'm not sure what's going on here?

Also, a friend of ours came too. Say hello to Greg!

Brandon and I managed to sneak away for a baby free walk on the pier.IMG_0201
Like my bathing suit bottoms?! I literally whipped them up in the five minutes before we left! I'll definitely be making more and do a tutorial for you guys. High waisted bathing suit=love. IMG_0204 IMG_0208 IMG_0216 IMG_0235 IMG_0239

Today I'm working on some more handmade dresses. Hopefully I can get them done and in the shop by Friday-ish? I'm sad March is coming to an end, it's been such a great month. But April is my birthday month and I'm FINALLY turning 21! Woop woop! I hope next month will be just as good as this one!

P.S. I changed a few things on the blog, one big thing being the header! I'm going for ..... simplicity (and less girly?). I still really like the floral background I had, maybe I'll bring it back in the summer. Anyways, what do you think? Like or dislike?

Easiest Tomato Sauce EVER!

IMG_0291
As you know, Brandon and I decided to make ourselves a little challenge! For two weeks, we were only allowed to buy two grocery items per day in order to use up all the stuff we already had. This was pretty easy but after a couple of days, we ate up all of our essentials and had to really start planning our meals. And that is how I discovered how to make the EASIEST tomato sauce known to man. Are you ready for this?
IMG_0279 copy
Cut up 4 tomatoes (we went organic)
IMG_0280
Throw them in a blender
IMG_0282
Puree and dump in saucepan

And really you can stop there. We decided to throw a chunk of cream cheese in (because we had some) and then some basic italian seasoning.

And then I let it cook for about 15 minutes, served with angel hair, and some grated parmesan!

Was that easy or what?! Now, this is not your mother's thick and hearty tomato sauce. But hey, with only 4 tomatoes and 20 minutes times, this is pretty darn good. It's very light and healthy tasting. Of course, you can add some meat, more seasoning, and cook it longer but we were pretty satisfied. We also decided this sauce would be perfect for some seafood pasta? Maybe?

Girlish Garb: All Stripes

Girlish Garb
We went to visit my mother-in-law recently at her new home! She's living in the cutest little cottage-style home on a gorgeous plot of land (and I'm totally jealous). So I took the opportunity to take some pictures before sunset!

Isn't this the cutest mail box you ever laid your eyes on?! I want it.

My day has been pretty relaxing. We went to my dad's and started cleaning out his garage. I say started because it's going to take a good couple of days to make our way through all of his.... junk. If you guys follow me on twitter, you would know that my dad is a bit of a hoarder. I totally got that from him but luckily I've got my hoarding under control. Unfortunately for my dad though, he does not. He's been super stressed out lately and it's more than he can handle so I've taken it upon myself to share all the de-cluttering I've been doing! Last week we did his kitchen and filled up three garbage bags and a hot tub sized box for goodwill. GUYS, the baking powder he has been using expired in 2005! Now, I love my dad butttt really? He just has too much stuff and not enough time to deal with it all so once a week, my brother and I are trying to spend a day getting rid of shit/organizing/getting rid of more shit. It's kind of fun though, I like cleaning and it makes me feel good knowing how much this is going to help my dad (and my brother since he has to live there now).

So anyways, the last part of the day I spent hanging outside with Eliza. We lounged around in our bathing suits, jumped in the pool a few times (it's still kind of chilly), played with water balloons, and ate mac & cheese! I can't wait until the water is warm enough and we can get that baby to swim! She really loves the water and I feel like this is the summer! Crossing my fingers.
