Rodeo!

A few weeks ago, Brandon's Dad called us up and invited us to the rodeo! (Yes, we live in texas). We weren't planning on going but decided what the heck! It was an overcast day but the temperature was perfect. I'm so glad I decided to bring my camera along, I can't wait to come back and show Eliza all of these when she gets older (:

Ha! She totally looks like a troll doll! This is her "cheese"face.

These goofs (brother and brandon), I swear when they are together it's like I have 3 children. I can't take them grocery shopping because they play football in the aisles and chase each other all around the store!

And see that belt buckle? Brandon got that at a liquor store! I think it actually came with the first bottle of tequila he bought? Anyways, brother insisted on wearing it.

Eliza demanded we go on the Ferris Wheel first thing. That may or may not have been due to a certain mommy talking it up the whole the way there ;)

Then she batted those cute little eyes and got her Grand-dad to buy her some popcorn... we all had a little bite.

Then I took her on her first real "roller coaster" type ride. She liked some parts and others she.... didn't? But overall I think it was a hit.

After a while, we ventured inside to see some animals and Eliza got a pony ride!

And here's the only picture I managed to get of Eliza and her Grand-dad.... woops!

It was pretty fun except for the ending. We had to go see the performer which was Blake Shelton? Apparently he's a judge on "The Voice"? I don't know and I'm sorry if you're a country fan but I absolutely hate country. I don't know what it is, I just don't like it. So that was not so great but I was a good sport.

Speaking of country! Man do Texans like to get dressed up for the rodeo! I have never seen so many cowboy boots and cowboy hats in my life. I guess I shouldn't have been so surprised, I mean we do live in Texas after all. Sometimes I just forget that's what we're "known for". We're just a bunch of horse ridin', cowboy boots wearin', hicks! Right?! Ya'll?!    ....For your information, I don't even own cowboy boots... or even a dang hat. Although I'm not much of a hat person to begin with... But the point is, I'm probably the opposite of a hick. And sometimes, Texas stereotypes are annoying. One time a New Yorker seriously asked me if I road a horse to school. Really man? So don't do that, please.

Well, enough ranting. Today was a pretty good day! I got started on building a new set for shop photoshoots which I am really excited about and can't wait to share! Also, have you entered in the summer giveaway?! Summer's almost here, you wouldn't want to miss out!

Girlish Garb: Mint Julep

Girlish Garb
I just realized that this is the first girlish garb with my red hair back! Whatcha think? And of course, this is one of my handmade dresses. I could seriously wear this thing every. day. It's so... so.... functional! It's comfortable and I can change my look with just a top! Or vest in this case.

Doesn't the pool look so tempting?! Only about a month until it's warm enough to swim! Yesterday really felt like summer, by that I mean I was sweating... inside! And that's how you know it's summer in Houston. Unfortunately I broke a mercury bulb in my "studio" and couldn't turn the AC on.... so....

Also, I found this picture from almost a year ago! It was taken in the exact same spot. And boy, has my hair changed! It's funny how time can change things so much.

So, I was going to blog last night but then I got caught up looking at hair extensions.... and then I got caught up looking at dreadlocks..... and before I knew it, it was 1:30! And then I actually gave myself a dread to see how I would like it. I tried to lay down and sleep but I had a million things racing through my head! And then I started freaking out about my dread and decided, even though I've been wanting dreads for ever, it's not the right time. I'm 20 with a kid and I don't need another reason for people to gawk at me right now (we live in a really conservative area). So I picked it out while in bed (with my hands, no conditioner or brush needed) and decided I still want hair extensions! Because who doesn't want long hair?! So I will be saving up. It's mainly for photoshoots.... and I may wear them in public every once in a while.... But anyways...

I've got a cool giveaway coming up, possibly even tomorrow?!  I'm not sure what's in store for this weekend but if we end up staying home then I will definitely do another post at some point. Hope you guys have a good one!

Weekend in Austin: Day 2

The first day we went the weather was horrible! Which was totally a bummer. On the way back from our "adventure" to the lot behind our hotel, it started pouring and was like that pretty much all day. Plus it was freezing. But the day we had to leave it cleared up and was beautiful! We had just enough time to squeeze in a trip to one of our favorite places in Austin, Peace Park! And I must say, it was a hit. Eliza had a blast (although her face doesn't show it in the picture below)

They have a playground, of course, but it also runs along this little creek. We found a path down and spent most of our time exploring down there.

The water was so chilly! It reminded me of when we used to go to Colorado and play in the creeks (:

Don't they look so posed?

Then a few of our friends met us there before we had to leave!

These things were everywhere! I'm assuming they were snails at one point but now they are rocks. Weirdest thing ever.

I just got news that we might be going back this weekend for SXSW! I'm hoping we get to go because it's supposed to be our Spring Break and we haven't really done anything spectacular... which is sad. Makes me feel so old! Well anyways, I'm off to go photoshoot some clothes! Happy Wednesday everyone.

Joy Post: Spring Break

joy

Soooo I had a minor meltdown the other night. Mostly due to just stress I think. I'm usually really good at staying positive but every so often I just lose it. I guess you could call it a rut? It just becomes impossible to think positive about anything but luckily I have an amazing fiance that knew just what to say to make me feel 100 times better! So I thought it was time for a joy post!!! Here are some things that make me happy/I'm looking forward to!

  • I've been kind of weary about this summer (last summer it was mostly 100+ degrees... not fun) but today's warm weather got me a little excited. Mostly for swimsuits and swimming!
  • On that note, I'm excited about attempting to make my own high-waisted bikini bottom like here and here
  • Or just buying one like this one from Anthropologie, this one from Etsy, or this one from Urban Outfitters
  • Also, I'm so very excited about my handmade Dress Line!
  • I had a super awesome, fabulous weekend which I will post pictures of later.
  • I thrifted some really great things lately.
  • Kind of contradicting to the last (hehe) I've been doing some de-cluttering and got rid of some bulky furniture pieces. Yay for more space!
  • And I found this cool website for 20 something bloggers which I will be joining soon!
  • Also, Brandon and I stayed up last night watching Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead via Netflix and are now motivated to cut processed foods out of our diets! Well... we're going to try at least.
  • In the spirit of that, we are going to try to purge our fridge/pantry by not buying groceries for the next two weeks! We set a limit of two items per day for basics and something we may need for a meal we want to cook with the food that we do have.
  • Let's see.... We're on "Spring Break".
  • And I have Eliza back from her Grandma's!

So, a lot to be happy about! Now I just have to focus on the good and not the bad!

P.S. Feel free to join in and link back with your own joy post! In case you are new, this is where it all started.
