Daily Outfit Post: Park

It's only 10 o'clock and this is turning out to be the worst Thursday in the history of Thursdays! Brandon woke me up by breaking the news of my bike being stolen from our patio... It was a vintage Lady Raleigh Bike and was in the process of being fixed up. We probably spent around $200 which sucks the most. I don't even think I had a full picture of her :/ And the second bad part of my day is, I have my first canker sore. It hurts. And I can't have wings tonight, which is like the highlight of my week (i love wings). I guess on the bright side, my day can't really get much worse than this. I really just want to go shopping and blow off all my steam but I am broke. Arg, what's a girl to do

Well, sorry about that. I had to vent a little. Moving on, last week we went to this park that is about a mile away from our apartment that I had no idea about! It wasn't really that great... which is probably why I've  never been there before. I made Brandon exercise his photography skills a little bit and take some pictures of me in one of my new favorite dresses!

I got it at buffalo exchange for $20! Nice, huh?
Belt: Thrifted
Crochet Vest: Forever 21
Leggings: Forever 21

This is actually one of the dresses I had to buy while I was in Austin, suitcase-less.

What a cutie (: Well here's to my day getting better, I hope you guys have a great Thursday!

Kitchen Table Casters

Remember these chairs that I reupholstered?

Well it turns out the arms were to big to be able to slide under the table which I couldn't stand. I was thinking of just putting some pieces of wood under the table legs but then my mom suggested I put wheels on them instead! Genius! It's a super heavy table and that would make it so much easier to move, so that's what I did.

I bought these casters from Home Depot for $5 a pair:
(mine have brakes though)

All you have to do is drill a hole, hammer this circle base thing in and the wheels snap on!

We got lucky and didn't have to drill a hole, there was already one! And here's our table with it's fancy new casters:

Pay no attention to the weird center piece. I just moved the table against this wall and don't know quite what to do with it yet. Maybe a mirror? Or just a large piece of art or something? I don't know, I'll get to it... eventually!

Decorating Inspiration

I'm on a kind of decorating spree and have really indulged in Apartment Therapy today. They have a little something for everybody and it is just so inspiring! I smell a bunch of diy home decor in the near future! I'm actually working on a really big home decor/diy project right now (one that I'm totally dreading because of how much time it's going to take) and I will share as soon as I'm done! Until then, here's some great decor inspiration I've found (sorry for being so photo heavy)!

I think the common theme here is plain walls (I live in an apartment and can't change those) and brightly colored/vintagey/diy accessories. We don't have a whole lot of natural light so I'm hoping that will help brighten up the place. Ahh, I love decorating!

salted CARAMEL milkshake!

In Austin, a few weeks ago we went to this burger place called Hopdoddy and had the most delicious shake I've ever had! It was a caramel and sea salt shake, and yes it sounds a little weird but the combo is soo delicious!

I've been craving one ever since so a this weekend, I attempted to recreate it. The first round... was way too strong but I adjusted the amounts a little for the perfect proportions. Here is what you need:

A blender
Measuring cup and spoons
1/2 Tbs of sea salt
1/4 cup caramel
1/2 cup of milk
A pint of ice cream (vanilla)

We bought our very first blender and this was the perfect thing to break it in!

It's super easy, just dump all the ingredients into the blender.

Blend.

And serve immediately.

I wish I had some pretty milk shake glasses to spruce these up a bit! Oh well, here's a picture of my little helper.... or spatula licker, whatever you'd like to call it (:

daily outfit post; 3

This is actually the new background for my store shoots but I tested it out with an outfit post first. Yesterday, I wanted to feel girly but really comfortable, so this is what I came up with.

Shirt: Target
Dress: thrifted/upcycled
Leggings: Forever 21

There's a funny story about the shirt actually. A couple weekends ago when I went to Austin, I forgot my suitcase! So on Saturday we had to run to a Target to get me something to wear! Brandon was yelling at me the whole time for taking too long but I wanted to get something I could keep on wearing, ya know?! So I got this shirt, a cute pair of shorts (which I have a lack of), and some tights (can't go wrong there). It turned out ok and I'm not going to lie, I enjoyed the excuse to get new clothes! I've been trying to down-size my closet to get rid of old things and just keep stuff that I really love because we don't have a lot of room. But now I don't have a whole lot of options!

In other news, I'm working on a May/Summer Lookbook for the store with this new background and I'm very excited about it! I'll post about it, as soon as I'm done. The week's almost over, woo!

cousin's in town!

About 6 months ago, Brandon's sister and niece moved to Arizona and we haven't seen them since (except for the occasional skype). But his niece flew down here for a couple of weeks to visit. She is about 5 years old and is Eliza's best friend so it was really sad when they moved but we really enjoyed having her visit.

Don't they look like sisters? Nanna brought over some cupcakes and the kids had a ball with them...

They played, and played, and played!

The second day we went to a party that someone was throwing for her. So we got the kids all lathered up with sun screen.

There was a moon walk there, Eliza attempted but I don't think she liked it very much.

And poor Brandon got ambushed by a band of angry little girls!

But he managed to escape and took flight to the sea!

He arrived on an island and thought he was safe atlast but to his suprise, it was a land of tiny people!

And they didn't like him one bit!

So he sailed a way once more and finally reached home! Haha, that's a little Gulliver for you. At the party we also got to hold an adorable little newborn,  I love babies!

Isn't this cute! He's such a great dad, I couldn't ask for anyone more perfect, really. (:

Eliza found the left-over cupcakes a day later and helped herself!

When I found her, she had licked all the icing off the top! Haha, typical! It was a  fun weekend, and we sure are going to miss her but hopefully this summer we'll have a chance to fly up and visit them! I guess we'll just have to wait and see!
