It's Picnic Time!

I'm baaaaack! The past two weeks were so busy for me, I just had no time to blog. But I'm back! And have a lot of stuff to blog about. So a while back I decided I wanted my own picnic set, during my search I found some really cute options. Here is what I found:

My favorite

Make a picnic basket out of felt! How cool!

Picnic To-Go! Cute huh?

And last but not least, How to Make an Adorable Picnic Quilt

So after all my research I went out and bought a $10 basket and $15 quilt (on sale!) from Wal-Mart. Then I stopped into the Target like $1 area for utensils which cost about $4.50 all together and then I got some napkins from a Goodwill for about $2. So all in all it cost me about $35 for this whole kit which I think worked out great! I can't wait to get out and put all this stuff to work!

And I couldn't of done it without our Gaga!

Thanks everyone for coming! You guys are great (: I'm so happy with the way it turned out!!! Woot Woot!

With all your power, what would you do?

Soo this weekend I went to Free Press Summer fest and saw the Flaming Lips!

Pretty much the most amazing show I've seen. Ever. It was a two day festival, the first day was sooo hot. Oh, the blistering heat that is Texas. The second day was also insanely hot and just when we thought we couldn't stand the heat, it rained!

(me hiding under our leaky umbrella, trying to protect our bags before we stowed them away)

There couldn't have been more perfect timing. One of our friends had brought a really nice camera and didn't want to get it wet so he made friends with the sound guys and they let him stow it away under their tent.. and then we snuck our bags along too (:

(our two friends from Austin, TX)
It got a bit muddy but the weather the rest of the day was perfect. And then The Flaming Lips.

This was a picture of the girls in front of us. I want her hat.

Oh I also have some cool news. Remember those little jellyfish I made and tried to sell on Etsy? Some lady asked to sell them in her shop! I'm really excited about it and hope it works out!

On that note, summer has started and my sales are up. I've started school and am trying not to get overwhelmed so I may not post as much. I have so much going on in the next few weeks, oi!

I have a photo shoot Wednesday, a 20's party Friday, a 1st birthday to plan and a lot of school work in the next few weeks. Well here goes nothing! Happy Monday everyone!

Sparkles

So I've started planning my daughter's first birthday this week! I'm so excited and it's more than a month away. It's more for me and my friends so I'm having a lot of fun with it. I'm trying to spend as little money as possible so I've been doing a lot of research on good diy ideas. There are a lot of printable party favors on Etsy and as I looked through them I couldn't find any that looked like what I had in my head so I made my own! I'm getting pretty good at photo shop, when I got my laptop it had the newest version and it threw me off a bit but I'm finally getting used to it!

Any who her party is Tinkerbell/lost world themed (costume party) and I was designing her card but was having some technical difficulties. I decided to color a black and white Tinkerbell and put some glitter on her dress. The glitter was where it got difficult, so I found this awesome trick. I pretty much copied and pasted from Rainy Day Treats' blog but I changed some of the numbers for what I did.

1. Duplicate the layer/element. This is kind of optional, it's easier if you just use the magic want to select what you want but it's more permanent that way.
2. Then added noise (filter>noise>add noise) with the properties of 25%, uniform, monochromatic.
3. On the same layer I then did plastic wrap (filter>artistic>plastic wrap) with the properties of highlight strength 16, detail 13, smoothness 2.
4. If you duplicated the later then do this: change to an overlay (where you see your layers to the right, change it from normal to overlay) and voila!

I was very pleased with the results. Here is just the front of the invitation, I may change them in the next month.... who knows.

I also made goodie bag tags, and a banner. I'm on a roll!

A Few New Things

First off, you've probably notice that I did a blog makeover! The last layout got kind of messed up and it was due for a change anyways. Welp, here are a few new things in the store this week;

I wore that Jumpsuit out last week, and took a new picture as a request a while back of the model standing up. It took a while longer to get it up than I hoped but that's ok. Oh by the way, have you ever been haggled on Etsy? Last week someone asked me for one of my items for a different price then I had listed, like 30% lower than the listed price. Now I think I have very reasonable prices so I was a little offended but I managed to reply as politely as possible. It just kind of suprised me...

Oh and this is the first week I haven't had one sale in a while... it's a little discouraging. Hmph.

One-Shoulder Ruffle Shirt

Well I ended up staying at my mother's an extra day and then I came home sick with a bit of a stomach bug. Yuck. But I'm feeling a little better and I squeezed in a little diy time to make this One-shoulder ruffle shirt that I left a link for two days ago.

Here was the original:

And here is mine:

Also last week I frosted my bathroom windows. I did a post on some really cool frost ideas but I just went to Home Depot and picked up a sheet of stuff that you squeegee on. This is how it turned out.
