Mirror Ideas

I have this mirror that is horrific looking and I can't decide what I want to do with it and what color I want to paint it. Here are some of my ideas so far. Right now I'm really liking the one on the shelf. I happen to have an unused shelf that needs a home. The only debate now is what color I want the mirror to be. I think I'm leaning towards the green.... or maybe red to add a bit of pop? `

Bathroom Makeover & Fun Bookshelf ideas

This is kind of where I got my Inspiration

See I had made (and by I, I mean my dad and boyfriend) this shelving unit but it didn't quite turn out like I dad drawn it. They did it exactly right but I didn't account for the width and it just made my bathroom feel really cramped. So today my dad and I tore it apart. I'm using all of the wood, just reassembling it. And some of it is going into little Eliza's room. Anyhow this is it.

I plan on adding a door to the little cubbie above. I bought adorable knobs from Anthropologie that I have yet to use that are going on it. On the wood plank holding in the baby towels is cut scrapbook paper that I had. I think it added a little something.

And then I added a mini shelf which I also covered with scrapbook paper.

Here is a bench... not really sure it's going to be used but it's cute right? I'm making a cushion for it... eventually. On top of all that I want to make a towel rug, ohh so much to do.

I also made this bust for my necklaces. Below is the original from Design Sponge.

And here is mine (made out of foam board and mounted on a plate stand).

In the near futur I plan on adding another shelf and on it I'm going to print and frame some artwor from IndieFixx.com. They have a project called Feed Your Soul where they rounded up artists to come and do free work for people in this terrible economy. I think it's brilliant and can not wait to showcase one of these lovely pieces in my bathroom.

    Here are the shelf ideas:

    Jean Short Tutorial

First off, my inspiration found in In Style Magazine

    Supplies:
    Old pair of jeans
    Tape measure
Marking device (pen, pins, chalk, pencil, etc.)
    Scissors

    1. Find old high waisted jeans that fit from atleast mid-thigh up. try on.

    2. Decide where you want to cut them, taking into account the length for rolling them up. I chose 17".

    3. Take them off, lay them down and make sure they're flat.

    4. Mark the measurement across the pant legs and cut.

    5. Try them on to double check.

    6. Optional step: Distressing. The little hole I made took about ten minutes and then I gave up. I used my seam ripper and carefully pulled the seams that were running vertically. It's kind of tricky and takes time which is why this is optional. If you find a better way to do it, I would be glad to know!

    Acid Washing Supplies:
Bleach (amount depends on the number of knots, I used about 1/2 cup for shorts and had leftovers)

    Cup (preferably shallow)
    Sink
    Rubber Bands

Baster or fork (optional, see step 5)
    Gloves (optional but recommended)
    Washer and soap
    Video I used

    1. Take your rubber bands and tye up multiple sections on your jeans.
Tip: in the video the girl soaks her jeans in water first and I diluted my bleach with water, these are optional. I don't think they're necessary and just make the process longer.

    2. Get on the rubber gloves and pour your bleach into a cup (enough so the knots will reach).

    3. Dip your knots into the bleach, making sure you don't miss any.

    4. Lay in sink and wait.

    5. Optional: I found a baster, dipped it in bleach and sprinkled my jeans all over for the splatter effect.

    6. My shorts took about 35 minutes before I tossed them in the wash. However I diluted my water so it may not take you as long. Just keep an eye on them and when they reach the color you desire, throw them in the wash and wash as you normally would.

I feel so 80's in these... I think I need to grunge them up a bit but here's the final product.

    My Wish/To-do List

New Orleans was a blast! I got to see most of my family so that was really nice but I am glad to be home. My grandpa lived through the great depression and lets just call him thrifty... well its heating up in New Orleans and he has yet to turn the ac on. Ya, I'm ecstatic to be home where I can control the thermostat as I please.

I've started on my quilt again, I'm kind of excited. I just hope it turns out as cool as I want it to.

I keep getting suckered into donating money I don't have... so next $30 I earn is going to Veterans for America.

    1. I want a fedora! This one's from Target.

    This is from Etsy.

    2. I need a model, that's available for my everyday use.

    3. I need to improve my shipping means. I keep understating my shipping price on etsy and it's really frustrating me.

    Bulk Shipping sites- http://www.uline.com/

    http://www.echeapshipping.com/Poly%20Mailers.htm

    http://www.royalmailers.com/Poly-Mailer-Bags.html

I suppose I need to figure out what I need before I go buying bulk products.

    4. I need to finish up my pregnancy journals and get them out there!

    5. I also need to get rid of stuff! Clothes, paper piles lying around, and junk we don't need!

    6. And finally, I need to get Eliza back on schedule so I have time for work, house duties, and my life.
