So I checked out this resale shop called Plato's Closet that I think I'm going bring all my clothes in to trade. Since having Eliza, my style has really changed and I need to update my wardrobe. I'm really into floral and nude colors here are some things I like;
from Urban Outfitters There's also a kids store that I want to take all Eliza's overgrown clothes to called Once Upon A Child. We just went through her clothes and picked a bunch we don't want and I definitely want to try and get some money out of it. I've tried Ebay but it's such a hassle so this is next on the list.
In other news:
I sold two things on Etsy within the last 24 hours!
Right now I'm working on some pregnancy journals to list on Etsy. They're going to be pretty cool, I'm excited.
And here are some helpful tips I picked up along the way:
Loveeee Daily Danny, green living craft ideas. Tutorial for silhouette plates
I just made up some wall art using scrapbook paper that I had lying around. I framed some, and glued the others to empty canvases I had. (Ignore the hideous wallpaper, I'm doing the best I can to make it look good)
This one that I framed, I made a really pretty origami lily and stuck it on with tape. It was really easy and I think it turned out cool, here is the video.
And this one I made origami Bell Flowers, directions here.
Been busy lately, I think it's all in my head though because I can't quite remember what I've been busy doing... I'm counting down the days 'till the weekend, I'm taking a trip to New Orleans!
I first saw this at Pier 1 about a week ago but it seemed way over priced so I passed it up and then I saw this on Little Miss Momma's BLog for a tutorial on Rocky Bella's blog. My kitchen needed a little somethin' somethin' to spruce it up so I decided to make one! I had a few extra picture frames around and some black spray paint. Then I picked up some hemp and the cutest little clothes pins at Wal-Mart. Easy as pie! And really cute, I want to make more... excuse the messy kitchen. I'm in a cleaning out mode so things are kind of... well everywhere. We have too much junk. I think a garage sale is in the near future. Anywho, that's what I did today.
So my birthday is coming up and there's a wedding in May that I'm attending and it's kind of cowboy themed. The whole wedding court is wearing boots including the bride and groom soo I wanted to get some! Since my birthday's coming up I started looking around so I could put them on my list. I ended up finding some at Salvation Army yesterday but here are some of my fav's from Etsy.
Sorry all, I came down with a nasty stomach virus and was sick for a couple of days. But I'm better now and can't wait to share my henna experience!
1. Design Henna and Decide Where You Want It. It works best on hands and feet because the skin is thicker and it soaks deeper into your skin. I found this tutorial for henna designs that's really cool. And this hand template that I used to design my hand.
I unfortunately didn't do my hand(left) but I did do my sister's(right). I realized I have a baby that needs me to have both my hands free for her (:
2. Purchase and Make Henna I hear you can find them at any middle eastern type of grocer/market but I just got a kit at Barnes and Nobles for about $10. Warning: it takes at least two hours after mixing to become ready to apply and make sure it is fine. If not then sift it (look for a video on YouTube) or your it will get clumpy and clog up your cone. Tip: MAKE SURE you do not add too much liquid. The kit's instructions were a little off so I did some guess work. Mine came out pretty good.
3. Apply! Tip: I did a rough sketch with a pen before applying henna just to make sure it was in the right spot. Also have tooth picks handy for any oopsie-daisies you come along.
Awesome video below of someone applying a basic henna design.
Tips: the paste consistency should be that of toothpaste. after mixing, let paste sit till top layer is darker (about 2 hours) Seal opening of your cone before using. To get a darker shade, get some sun exposure before peeling off henna **If you need to put on clothes or something spray on a couple light layers of hairspray, that seemed to help me. Or use medical tape but you're gonna have to leave that on until it's ready to be peeled off. Once you peel off henna, avoid water. Henna dye is still doing work on your skin. Make solution of lemon juice and water. Once henna dries (but before cracks) apply for the next hour at 15 min. intervals.
After I applied Henna:
I tried doing this in the mirror... It turned out OK my sisters^ mine^ my looove^ my bro^
After peeling off henna:
You can still see some pen and henna. To remove, try wiping them with olive oil and for those stubborn pieces, let it soak into your skin a bit and try wiping it off in a few minutes.
this one was on my chest and didn't come out very well^
After 24 hours:
Oh also, I only used 2 tablespoons and I did all these and still had some left over. It was really fun and turned out awesome!
