Laptop

Ok, so my birthday is coming up April 26th and I want a laptop because my old one died about a year ago. I'd really like my own to blog and do my business on without hogging the only computer in the house. So I've been debating between a Dell and an HP. For now these are the two that stand out.

HP Pavilion dv4 which starts at $578.99 but it would turn out at about $700 with all the stuff I want on it. There's a program available for it that inscribes text onto cd's for you! Like if you burn a cd you can put text on it, cool huh? The more I read about this one, the more I want it. Should I get a fingerprint reader??? Also I don't know if I want a 3GB or 4Gb???? Man, Microsoft programs cost so much money!!! I just want word, and Excell. I kind of want publisher but it's like a couple hundred dollars more, I don't think I really need it.

Or the Dell Inspiron 15

It starts at $499 but with all the stuff I want, it would be about $703.

Both of those include Adobe Photoshop. And the HP includes a back up disc thing and 2 months of Norton Internet Security ... I don't know much about security programs or processors or warranties. Any advise or suggestions??

Or the Hp G60t because has a 5 in 1 media card reader. It would come out to about $600? It has the numbers on the side, which I really like. It's bigger than the first HP though and I kind of want a smallish one. Ahhhh, too many choices. Maybe I should just make a pros and cons list.

Long Sleeve Turned Ruffle Cardi

This is what I did last night.

I was trying to research ways to reconstruct a sweater because I have those two in my "store" but don't think they'll sell soo I might as well chop'em up and make them into something people will want (or I will want), right?. And then I came across this! I dug through my stash and found this tye-dyed long sleeve t-shirt that I bought at a thrift store because I thought it was cool. And then I pulled out scraps from a pair of men's dress pants that I had butchered a while back. This was the result!

It was really easy, I shortened the sleeves a bit so now they're quarter sleeve. When I cut the t-shirt down the middle, I kind of rounded the tops and bottoms. Then I ruffled up the pant scraps, sewed them on and voila! I'm thinking of making a belt as well but that may wait for another day.

I've been into upcycling things lately. Hm. Speaking of which I found a great idea of reusing paper for my business! I found it here. Shred your recycle paper and use for packaging material! I also like the idea of making mosaic plates out of broken ones, nice!

day bed

First off, Ikea was soooo cool! I'm getting excited just thinking about it! I spent all day today assembling everything and must I say that I am pretty proud of myself. I did it almost all by myself and it seems those past 4 years of working on sets for theatre really payed off! Anywho, when we went to Ikea we got this daybed;
This desk for my craft space;

and this little drawer unit to put under it for storage.
A couple nightstands and a bookshelf. We completely furnished our game room/my to-be craft space! I'm really excited. I already started moving my stuff from my room to it's new home but I'm waiting for my dad to move back into the master downstairs. He sleeps in the room right next door and I don't want to keep him up crafting all night. Unfortunately his room is a bit of a mess and has no mattress yet... I'm not sure when that'll even happen. So for now, the kitchen table is where it goes down.

We have this annual crawfish boil in April because my dad's birthday is the 24th and mine is the 26th so it's kind of a combined birthday party. Anyways we plan on inviting some friends for my dad and we're trying to makeover the house so he's not embarrassed. He's really self-conscious about what other people think of him. It's kind of cute, he's really getting into making his house look good.

So anyways we don't quite know what to do with this daybed! Here's some inspiration on bedding/pillows. By the way, I love apartmenttherapy.com

1.

I need to do something about a cover and pillows but I'm not quite sure what. My dad suggested converting a converter into a cover and then I guess we'd have to get pillows... I have no idea. I'm goin' to do a little shopping around now!

Tidbit: Girl Scout Cookies are going to be the death of me. My dad just can not say no and I'm the only one that eats them! In the past week or so I've eaten at least two boxes by myself. I'm disgusted in myself but they're just so good!

Harem Pants From Skirt

I'm going to Ikea today! I am extremely pumped, I have never been. It's kind of like a dream of mine to go to Ikea, I'm not sure why it seems so special. Is that just me? I've always gotten the catalogs and spent like hours just looking through them but now I actually get to go! Ahhh!

Well here's a little project I did last night. I went to goodwill and bought a bunch of skirts with cool fabric and I decided to make some Harem pants out of one of them. These are my inspiration for them. I decided to make them more like the third picture.

Note: best to use stretch knits. So here is what I did.

1. Get your skirt and make sure the waist will fit you. Mine was a button one so at the end I just added elastic.
2. Turn your skirt inside out and lay it on the floor with the back facing down and the front up. Make sure it is even so the centers of both lay on top of each other.

(my little helper)
3. Next you're going to get some kind of marker, could be a pencil, chalk, or just pins (I just used pins and they worked out fine).
4. Now decide if you want these to be long of more like capris and cut to appropriate length.
5. Mark the inside leg seam wherever you want it to be. I made my ankles about 4" and then measured the crotch 13" down from the waist and kind of connected the dots. Also after pinning, I tried it on to make sure it would fit.

6. Cut the excess material and sew or serge along your markers!

7. You're done! If you need to hem the bottom or add elastic to the waist, now would be the time to do so. Or make some size adjustments if necessary.

Also I listed a few cute necklaces last night. Here they are.

Sneak Peak

I've got some new stuff and you guys get a sneak peak! I should get around to listing it within the next week. We're shampooing our carpets so my "studio" is a bit of a mess to say the least. I need to get stuff organized. I'm kind of holding out though because I'm moving all my craft stuff upstairs eventually. Hopefully that'll be sooner than later... I guess only time will tell. Well enough about me! Here's some new stuff!

Also a video from Generation T (best book ever!). I made a bunch of these to wear around the house with like a tank or a sports bra under. They're comfy and I don't feel frumpy walking around in an old t-shirt.
