Mingle Monday: Lost in Relocation

Yes, yes it is a day late. But here is today's Mingle Monday with Bhrett from Lost in Relocation.

*******************************************************************************************************************************

1.    What got you into blogging and how long have you been at it?
In the winter of 2010 I decided to go to graduate school.  I was interested in schools in Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Canada, and New York.  After realizing that we would be getting married, moving away from home, and beginning a life half-way across the country I decided to start my little blog to document the process.  I never dreamed that I would meet so many amazing people or get paid to do something that I love so much!

2.       What does blogging mean to you? Business or pleasure?
Blogging is and will always be pleasure.  Yeah, I make a couple of bucks here and there for sponsorships, but writing doesn't come easy for me.  I have to be inspired, and I have to love and believe in what I'm doing.  The day that my blog becomes a business will be the day that I quit writing.  (Why yes, I do have a bit of a rebellious streak.)

3.       What do you mostly blog about?
Lately I've been blogging a bit about my inspiration for my shop, Fringe and Feather.  I also write about our adventures around Philadelphia, the woes of a vagabond life, and our journey to a simpler existence.  It's really quite the mish-mash, but I feel that it is representative of who I was and my journey to who I am.

4.       What do you besides blogging? What’s a normal day like in the life of Bhrett?
I am a full-time student, part-time pizza architect, and full-time house wife.  I just went back to school for the third time (after leaving my graduate program in New York) to earn a teaching certification.  I have a degree in Mathematics and I hope one day I'll grown up and teach high school mathematics.  Actually, maybe I will pass on the growing up thing...
In a typical day I do a bit of crafting, some homework, and a walk by the river with my loves.  I also do some less blog-worthy things like go to work or clean the kitchen.

5.       Do you plan out your posts or just kind of wing it? Strict schedule blogger or go with the flow blogger?
I blog like I live the rest of my life.  Winging it is what I do.  You'll rarely if ever see a post planned ahead.

6.       Are you a daytime blogger or night owl blogger?
Now that my husband has a nine-to-five I've become a daytime blogger.  I love being able to go snap a few photos and get them live within minutes.  It makes me feel like my readers are a huge part of my life, experiencing it with my as I seek out my journey.

7.       Name a few of your favorite blogs and why?
This is always so hard.  I found Sam because we seem to read a lot of the same blogs.  They are big.  You probably read them too.  I'd rather tell you about some up-and-coming blogs that I read.  I hope you'll check them out!
I love A Flower of the Sky.  I feel so connected to Felicia.  We have so much in common, and I love seeing her journey unfold.
Bronwyn at Little Bravery writes of adventure and style.  She's planning to buy a vintage Winnebago and hit the road.  I can't wait to see where her heart leads her.
Kelley at A Crooked Trail approaches life with such joy.  Visiting her corner of the web always brightens my day with an awesome photo, video, or just some beautiful thoughts.

Thanks for having me Sam.  You, lady, are too amazing!
xo bhrett

Girlish Garb: My New Favorite Place

GUYS! I know I whine all the time about hating where I live but this makes it just a little bit better. While driving around one day, I found this awesome little pond buried in the coolest neighborhood. It is now my favorite place and is only a mile and a half from my house!! I will definitely be using this as my special get away place. And on the other side it has a trail and a park for Eliza to play. Perfect.

It's been quite rainy around these parts but I don't mind. I love rain and have been taking advantage of the cooler weather. Today we wondered down to our new favorite pond between storms just to get out of the house. Next time, we'll have to bring bread for the ducks!

Girlish Garb: Beachy

I received this dress recently from She Inside and LOVE it. Seriously, it's so comfy, I love the color, and I wear it at least once a week.

The last 2 days have been spent relaxing at the beach! The water has been really gross but we had fun playing in the sand and not having to work/being with friends. It's so nice to go to the beach where there is a shower too! I hate having to drive 40 minutes home feeling sticky and sandy, yuck!

Also, while I was there, I did a little photo shoot for the store which I'm so excited about. I have to wait until film develops to see the pictures but I think it's going to be good.

It feels like the weekend... but it's just Thursday? Which is awesome! Hope your week is going as well as mine (:

P.S. I have a guest post over at Kitty Snooks today, check it out!

Girlish Garb: Vegas Baby!

Ok, this is the only outfit post I managed to fit in while in Las Vegas but it's a good one! We were going to a shmancy airforce banquet (I think I said "navy" on instagram... woops?) and we had a few minutes before to snap some pictures of our outfits. Oh, and beware of the photo overload here, I had some trouble deleting a few ;)

Las Vegas was so much fun. It's very different from Houston, let me tell ya! Everything is just so.... magical? And trashy at the same time? All the buildings are fantastic, there are drunk people everywhere at any time, cheap/bad food, gambling, drinking from the moment you wake up, and lots of sun! There's always something to do and somewhere to go. You don't have to look hard for entertainment. My favorite parts were going to see Cirque de Soleil and going to an oxygen bar (soooo good). I'll share some more actual pictures once I have time to go through them all! We did some drinking but not anything crazy. Mostly, we were there visiting with family which was really so good. It was awesome to see Eliza playing/hanging out with her cousins. They all got along so well. And we got a night to babysit/enjoy our newest little niece, Charley. If you follow me on instagram, you got a little peak of that. I had some serious baby fever going on! Speaking of fever, Eliza came down with a fever half way through which was a bummer. But I think she still enjoyed it. She was especially excited about her first time on a plane, which was quite an event! I'll go into more details later though. Hope everyone else had a great weekend. I can't believe it's Wednesday already. I kinda missed half of the week? Because it totally feels like Monday....

It was particularly hot out this day so I threw on a simple tank top and maxi skirt. And of course, I always have to throw a belt on too. Annnnd, this may or may not be the second time wearing this exact same outfit...... it also, may or may not be the last time either! You can't really see it but the tank is like an oatmeal color, it's quickly becoming a favorite. However, I've been having a difficult time finding it because it's always in the dirty laundry!!!

Well guys, I hope you have a great rest of the week/weekend. Hopefully in Las Vegas, I get to work on my tan a bit..... Lookin' a little pasty, don't cha think?
