It's hard to believe we've only been working on the house for 3 weeks. With all the time in between and the weeks and weeks of research and planning, it seems like much longer.... but last week was just awesome. There's nothing like putting up some walls to really get you believing that this thing is going to be a house! Now I can't wait to put up the rest!
This is kind of my official tiny home building outfit. Overalls- for some reason they are the comfiest thing I have found and wear them every time. My bright pink tennis shoes- I had no control over the color... they were just so comfy! And my hair up in a bun- the only way to keep it out of my face and off my sweaty neck.
This little room will be our living room with our "master loft" right above. We're going to seal up this side and then start working our way to the other side!
Funny story, the first wall we put up ended up going in on the wrong side! We started freaking out because we thought it would be impossible to take off and then realized that since we had just nailed the bottom, that all we had to do was lean it over and the nails would pop out. Phew! Soooo we got it in on the right side... and used screws to secure it to the bottom this time!
Since our tiny home benefit, we've had the trailer under this tree for shade and it is SO MUCH COOLER UNDER THERE. The only thing is, apparently it's love bug season and the whole time we were working, we had love bugs crawling all over us (they love this tree). Which isn't the worst thing, I'd rather love bugs than mosquitoes!
All of this took about two 1/2 days. Besides some minor set-backs (lessons learned!) we did pretty good and are ecstatic to finally see some walls on this tiny house of ours! We're going back in a few days and can't wait to see what we can get done!
